Steve Hamvas is a Principal in the Atlanta, Georgia office. His responsibilities include client relations, coordination of engineering design and drafting, proposals, scheduling, and construction administration. Steve has been responsible for projects throughout the United States and worldwide, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Canada. He has managed low-rise to high-rise projects, including buildings constructed with structural steel, concrete, masonry and wood, for new construction, additions and renovations. His projects have been in the categories of cultural, education, government, healthcare, hospitality, housing, laboratories, mixed use, office, parking, religious, renovations, retail, recreation and transportation. He has been with Stanley D. Lindsey & Associates, Ltd. since 1993. He was previously with LeMessurier Consultants for eight years and with a small structural engineering firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for three years.
Steve received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tufts University and Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Cornell University. He is certified in ATC-20 Post-Earthquake Safety Evaluation of Buildings and in ATC-45 Safety Evaluation of Buildings after Windstorms and Floods. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
Steve is a member of AISC, PCI, SEAOG, ACI, Steel Framing Alliance, ASCE, and NCEES.
