Georgia Tech Football Practice Facility Erection

Atlanta, Georgia

Stanley D. Lindsey SDL) provided erection sequencing and stability services for a 88,000 square foot indoor football practice facility. As part of these services, SDL provided a 3D erection plan illustrating each step of the erection process. The structural system was comprised of extremely slender 226 ft-long barrel trusses. In order to provide for their stability during erection, SDL performed a complete nonlinear “on-the-hook” stability analysis to provide the erector with the necessary pick locations. SDL also provided temporary bracing in the form of a horizontal cable grid as well as pipe-shore bracing at end column locations for construction wind loading and truss stabilization.
