The two-story, 22,000 square foot building houses both the college’s School of Nursing and Professional Counseling. The state-of-the art facility includes a Nursing Lab, multiple smart classrooms and associated offices. Located on a steeply sloping site, a series of retaining walls were used to maximize the footprint and integrate the building in the surrounding campus. Stacked column construction, where girders frame over the columns create natural moment frames. This greatly reduced the need for full penetration welds and thus lowered costs and construction time.
