Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal Pedestrian Bridge Erection

Atlanta, Georgia

Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates, Ltd. (SDL) provided the erection services for a 142-foot long, 240,000 pound pedestrian bridge to connect the new international terminal to an adjacent parking garage. SDL’s services included design of the rigging, temporary shoring system, and wind bracing for the bridge as well as the documentation of travel paths and crane configurations. Due to the sequence of construction, the bridge had to be set after other structures blocked access for a typical crane pick. In order to place the bridge into position on the shoring towers, a 48-tire Mammoet Transport was used to drive each of the three 20-foot wide bridge sections into position.
