Arvind Goverdhan is an Executive Vice President in the Atlanta, Georgia office. His responsibilities include Director of Operations for the Atlanta office, project supervision from start to finish, and assistance in developing principal structural design concepts and innovative schemes for projects. Arvind has managed low-rise to high-rise projects, including buildings constructed with structural steel, concrete, masonry and wood, for new construction, additions and renovations. His projects have been in the categories of cultural, education, government, healthcare, hospitality, housing, laboratories, mixed use, office, parking, religious, renovations, retail, recreation and transportation. He was responsible for a major tunnel extension project for the new Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Arvind has written many of the in-house computer programs used for the analysis and design of many of the firm’s projects. He is also actively involved with committee work and research conducted by the firm on an ongoing basis. He has been with SDL since 1982.
Arvind received his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, and Master of Science in Structural Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy in Structural Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
Arvind serves as Chairman of AISC Ad-Hoc Committee, “Design Criteria and Procedures for Frames with PR Connections” and of Structural Stability Research Council, Task Group 25 Committee, “Connection Restraint Characteristics”, and is a member of AISC Task Committee 5, “Composite Construction”, ASCE, Steel Framing Alliance, and International Council of Building Officials.
