Stanley D. Lindsey & Associates, Ltd. (SDL), a prominent structural engineering firm with offices in Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Bangalore, India announces Thomas S. Tarpy, Jr., Ph.D., P.E. has decided to relinquish his position as President after 24 years. Dr. Tarpy has been an integral part of SDL for over 50 years, and will assume the title of President Emeritus. Dr. Tarpy has served as a dedicated mentor and visionary leader, and fostered a culture of collaboration and innovation, leaving a lasting impact on the firm. He will continue to serve SDL full-time, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership while contributing his invaluable experience to the firm’s continuing success. SDL will be forever grateful to Dr. Tarpy and wish him the very best in all his future endeavors.
Dr. Tarpy’s position will be replaced with the promotions of Michael E. Corrin, P.E. and Arvind V. Goverdhan, Ph.D., effective January 1, 2025. Mr. Corrin will serve as President and Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Goverdhan will serve as President and Chairman. Mike and Arvind both joined SDL in 1982, and have served as Executive Vice Presidents since 2002. With over 85 years of combined experience at SDL, Mike and Arvind exemplify the dedication, leadership, and expertise that has defined the firm. In their new roles, they will guide SDL’s strategic vision and oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring its continued status as leaders of innovative design, groundbreaking research, and a deep commitment to serving our clients.
Mike’s experience includes healthcare, hospitality, parking, and office sectors, with a strong emphasis on guiding projects from initial design through completion. He is an active member of ACI, AISC, ASCE (Life Member), TNSEA, and NCSEA. Mike has served as SDL’s Corporate Secretary since 2002. Among his notable accomplishments, Mike was instrumental in designing the original Nashville Convention Center, and more recently the Broadwest Office and Conrad Hotel project in Nashville.
Arvind has played a pivotal role in the delivery of diverse complex structures, high-rise buildings, and is SDL’s Technical Advisor. One of his most notable accomplishments is the major tunnel extension at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He is also a trailblazer in technical innovation, having developed numerous in-house programs for structural analysis and design. These advancements have elevated SDL’s engineering capabilities, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of our industry. He has served on several AISC National Committees.
