Disaster Assessments

Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates, Ltd. (SDL) provides professional engineering and Disaster Assessments with structural consulting services for recovering from natural disasters, including hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, floods and ice storms. Hurricanes damage assessments of various facilities were conducted after hurricanes Andrew, Charley, Francis, Hugo, Ivan, Jeannie and Katrina.

SDL will visit a facility immediately after an event to evaluate and determine the extent of damage in order to assist the owner in re-opening or securing their facility. A written report, documenting the observed damage, will be produced for each facility. SDL will then provide, if requested by the owner of the facility, recommendations for repairing the damaged portions of the structure.

SDL has several engineers trained to respond to natural disasters according to ATC-20, Field Manual: Postearthquake Safety Evaluation of Buildings, ATC-45, Field Manual: Safety Evaluation of Buildings After Windstorms and Floods, and FEMA 154, Rapid Visual Screening of Buildings for Potential Seismic Hazards.
