Seismic Assessment and Rehabilitation

SDL is one of the leading consulting firms in the development of seismic design codes, in developing analytical techniques for seismic analysis of structures, and in the seismic design of the rehabilitation of existing structures. Several members of the firm have been involved with the seismic assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures in the Central and Eastern United States. Awareness of the seismic hazard risks in these areas of the country has risen dramatically in the last few years.

SDL has considerable experience in the seismic design of new structures in California and other western states, as well as other seismically active areas across the country. SDL’s seismic design experience extends beyond the country’s borders with projects in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Indonesia. SDL’s engineering experience and participation on several seismic-related committees allows the firm to be well prepared to address the critical issues regarding the seismic assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures.

SDL has experience with ASCE/SEI 31-03,Seismic Evaluation of Existing Buildings and ICSSC RP 6, Standards of Seismic Safety for Existing Federally Owned and Leased Buildings. SDL also has several engineers trained to respond to earthquakes according to ATC-20, Field Manual: Postearthquake safety evaluation of buildings and FEMA 154, Rapid Visual Screening of Buildings for Potential Seismic Hazards
